Koushirou is probably his name in the English version too; it's written on the door to his room. But everyone, even his parents, calls him by the nickname Izzy.

Izzy is the resident genius and computer nerd. He uses a lot of big words, sometimes unnecessarily, which can make him unwittingly sound pretentious. (Or as he might say it, "he employs an impressive vocabulary which is superfluous on occasion". ^_^.) However, that's just him - somehow, the other kids can all understand what he's talking about anyway.

His constant curiousity is his driving force - he is constantly trying to work out how things work, and what is the best way to approach things. He is good at solving puzzles. He has a Pineapple (^_^.) laptop with him in the digital world.

This computer is terrifically useful to all of them, and makes Izzy an invaluable member of the group. A computer genius in a computer-generated world has great power, and Izzy is in his element... he can analyse Digimon and store information about them, send and receive e-mails and messages from Jennai, crack codes, find paths and translate data. It is Izzy who works out many important things about the digital world.

As you can imagine, Izzy was probably not much of a social butterfly in the real world, but suddenly he's put with seven other kids - most of whom are VERY different in personality - and forced to work in a team.

Izzy is basically a good-hearted kid but he doesn't always relate well to other people, usually too busy in his pursuit of knowledge. An example that comes to mind is where he is completely absorbed in trying to decode some symbols with his computer, and works silently for hours, although Mimi is right there with him, wanting to get moving or do something, and shouts at him. He is so absorbed in his work he doesn't even notice her until she storms off, in tears.

He is a very technical thinker and not very emotional, although he does get choked up a few times, particularly when confronted with his loving parents. ^_^. He's usually quite serious.

Izzy is the son of an eminent mathematician and university professor, who sadly died with his wife in a car accident soon after Izzy's birth. His father only had one living relative - a distant cousin. This cousin, and his wife, had recently lost a little boy of their own, so they were happy to adopt Izzy. It seemed like a second chance. However, neither of his parents could work up the courage to tell him he was adopted - they wanted to wait until he was old enough. Izzy knew anyway, he overheard them talking once.

After realising that his parents weren't really his parents, Izzy drifted away from them, and buried himself in the computer instead. He used to play some soccer too - he wasn't a total hermit. ^_^.

When Izzy temporarily returns to the real world to save it and find the eighth child, his parents are sad at the way he seems to be growing up so fast, but they are willing to let him do it. They're good parents. The three get everything out in the open and it ends in a tearful three-way hug. Aww. ^_^.

So, like Mimi, he is the only child of two loving parents. But Mimi and Izzy are polar opposites. The two can't really understand each other at all.

His Digimon partner, Tentomon, is not as smart as Izzy is and so has a great respect for Izzy. The two get along nicely.

As far as how Izzy fits into the group, sometimes he is called to the lead with his knowledge and puzzle-solving, but he is not a leader and rarely tries to be. He would rather not take on huge responsibilities and is not a big risk-taker. He goes along with the rest of the group fairly agreeably, being extremely practical, and brave without any melodrama. He is not an attention-seeker and is happy to follow Tai's lead.
