Tamer Digimon

Each Tamer has a Digimon partner with them in the real world (although they sometimes have to hide them, because most people don't know that Digimon are real!). The two work together to beat evil Digimon that appear in the real world. With only three main characters, the Digimon get a little more spotlight and character development than they did in the other two seasons. That's the theory, anyway.

Another difference between these Digimon and the ones from the first two series is that the Tamers help their Digimon more. By activating battle cards with 'card slash', they can give their Digimon special, temporary attacks and powers to use against their enemy. This is important because often these Digimon will fight enemies at higher levels to themselves and would not be able to beat them unless they had the bonus of these techniques and their Tamer's strategy. These Digimon can also evolve with the power of Culumon.

Guilmon

"Takato...mon?"

Attack: Fireball
Child/Rookie: Guilmon
Adult/Champion: Growmon
Perfect/Ultimate: MegaloGrowmon

Guilmon Guilmon can look a bit scary, but he is just a kid at heart. Childish and naive and friendly, he really likes Takato and is willing to go along with his ideas. Like a child, he doesn't really think for himself that much, and he is fairly simple. He doesn't speak all that much. Renamon and Terriermon seem to be almost the intellectual equivalent of their partners, and they can converse like normal humans, but Guilmon doesn't really. He is very cute, endearing and affectionate. ^_^.

In a sense, Guilmon was created by Takato; he sorta came from a picture Takato drew of his own fan-made Digimon. He's kind of unusual and unique; Ruki's Digimon scanner couldn't even identify him. Takato was afraid when he first met Guilmon, thinking him to be dangerous, but Guilmon didn't attack him. He was happy to see his new friend, although it took him a little effort to understand who Takato was and that he was his Tamer.

Guilmon lives in a little building in the park. Takato showed him to Hirokazu and Kenta, and the two boys ran screaming, scared of the dangerous-looking Digimon with his glowing yellow eyes. ^_^. Takato showed him to Juri and she started exclaiming over how cute he was (Guilmon repeated the word 'cute' happily and Takato in disbelievingly ^_^.) and stuck a little flower sticker on his face. Other visitors he has had, apart from Takato, Lee and Terriermon, are Impmon and Culumon. Guilmon likes Culumon but because of his naivity, takes a while to learn that Impmon means him no good.

Guilmon can evolve to Growmon (Adult/Champion) and MegaloGrowmon (Perfect/Ultimate). 'Grow' is short for 'growl', so that's how it's pronounced. Guilmon's attack is "Fireball", although he doesn't always announce the attack name. It's similar to Pepper Breath but way cooler, and there is more of a stream of fire.

Renamon

"Hitori de tsuyoku naru."

Attack: Koyousetsu
Child/Rookie: Renamon
Adult/Champion: Kyuubimon
Perfect/Ultimate: Taomon

Renamon She's the smartest and most mature of the Tamer Digimon. She's not easily fooled. She is well-trained and very strong. Like Ruki, she seems quite cool and aloof, and a little intimidating - the perfect partner for Ruki. It's hard to imagine Ruki with a partner like, say, Palmon. *laughs at the idea*

Renamon had fought a lot and absorbed the data of many Digimon, but for some reason she couldn't digivolve. I guess the idea behind a evolution is that the partners care about each other and the Digimon has to protect their human. She was able to evolve on the occasions where Ruki showed that she cared about her. Usually, Ruki would treat her like some kind of tool, someone inferior to herself, which hurt Renamon's feelings.

After Ruki said that Renamon was just a Digimon and unimportant, Renamon left her and began to fight on her own. She was stronger on her own. When two partners have unity of heart, the Digimon is strong, but when two partners are having problems with each other, the Digimon's strength is actually inhibited. Renamon and Ruki were reunited when Renamon was battling Harpymon. Renamon fought excellently well but Harpymon took her by surprise and she couldn't get away. Ruki, wanting to help her partner, ran at Harpymon with a sharp stick and stabbed her in the back. This endangered Ruki and so Renamon evolved to protect her.

Because Ruki was very good at the Digimon card game, many Digimon wanted her to be their Tamer. But Ruki wanted the strongest - and so Renamon appeared to her and they began to fight together.

Renamon can digivolve to Kyuubimon (Adult/Champion) and Taomon (Perfect/Ultimate). Renamon's attack is "koyousetsu" (fox leaf arrowhead), where she leaps into the air and throws her arms out, sending leaf-shaped shards of light at the enemy.

Terriermon

"Makasete!"

Attacks: Blazing Fire, Petit Twister
Child/Rookie: Terriermon
Adult/Champion: Galgomon
Perfect/Ultimate: Rapidmon

Terriermon I don't really know what to say about Terriermon. Um.

Terriermon, Lee's partner, is cute, friendly and helpful. He's kind of like a little kid, but not as much as Guilmon. You can have a reasonably intelligent conversation with Terriermon, anyway. ^_^.

He looks kinda funny alongside Guilmon and Renamon. You have these two big tough-looking cool Rookies, and then there's... Terriermon. ^_^. At least he's small enough to cling onto Lee's shoulder. He can use his ears as hands, which is cool. And every anime needs some cute thing in it. (I can't think of Culumon as cute. It's too cutesy to be cute, and its eyes bug me. ^_^;)

Although he is small, he's a pretty good fighter for his size. He is always eager to fight to protect people. He and Lee are very close. Terriermon is more childish and cheerful and outgoing than Lee is. The two watch out for each other.

Terriermon can evolve to Galgomon (Adult/Champion) and Rapidmon (Perfect/Ultimate). Terriermon's attacks are 'blazing fire' (he spits little green balls of light from his mouth) and 'petit twister' (he spins his body around with the ears like helicopter blades, and turns into a cyclone that hits the enemy).
