Digieggs: Courage, FriendshipDigimon: DemiVeemon - Veemon - ExVeemon Armour Digimon: Flamedramon ("fire of courage"), Raidramon ("storm of friendship") Japanese name: Motomiya Daisuke Images Davis is almost like the Tai of 02; he likes soccer, he's the new digidestined leader, he's even inherited Tai's goggles. In personality, the two also have similarities; both are go-get-'em types who would rather charge at the enemy than stand around discussing strategy, both are stubborn, and both would put themselves at risk to save any of the others. Tai (and to a lesser extent, Matt) is Davis' role model, and Davis is happy to have this new position. Unfortunately, Davis takes a while to learn the ropes. Tai recognises something of himself in the younger boy and so appoints him leader, but at first it seems like Davis is ill-suited to the task. Impulsive, insensitive and at times, extremely arrogant ("am I good or what?!"), it seems like he's just in it for the fun of fighting action, teaching the Emporer a lesson, and being near Kari. But after a while, he learns what makes friendship powerful, and that is an important turning point for him. Davis is very smitten with Kari; Kari does not appreciate his advances but this would not be so bad on its own except that he a) can tend to ignore/be mean to anyone who isn't her, and b) gets madly jealous of any competition. As such, there is a lot of hostility between Davis and TK, most of which is initiated/provoked by Davis, at least at first. Everyone else becomes increasingly annoyed by Davis' self-promotion, bragging and bad ideas, and so some episodes are quite full of Davis-bashing on the parts of the other characters. In fact, they can be quite mean; Yolei makes snide comments, Cody points out his stupidities, Kari scoffs at his jokes, and TK... well, you know. ^_^; However, Davis *does* improve. I think the best Davis-centric episode I've seen is the one where he finds out that Ken is the Digimon Emporer. In that, he spends the first half of the episode acting like an insufferable jerk, and then suddenly he's put to the test. Ken captures his friends and tells him he must choose which of them can go free; all the others will be eaten, and Davis must kneel down and plead for the lives of his friends. Well, Davis - who seems to have such pride - doesn't hesitate. He's on his knees in a second, asking that his friends be freed. Then he asks that they can all go free, and Ken can take him instead. (Then it turns out the 'captured friends' were Bakemon in disguise, but this was still an excellent episode to show that Davis does value all of his friends, and couldn't choose between them, or choose them over himself.) He becomes a good team player; while he is the main character of the show, and so gets a little more screen time than most of the others, it's not so much that he's trying to be the centre of attention; he just likes to have his say, and he likes to play hero. He was also the first of them to offer friendship to Ken; the two became best friends soon after. It seemed a little strange, because Davis seemed to be the one who disliked Ken the most; he would say mean things about him and loved to attack him, and Ken did some pretty horrible things, but as soon as Ken changed, Davis did a 180 and was trying to convince the others to let Ken join them. He has a big heart, he doesn't bear grudges. Davis does deserve the digiegg of Friendship, although at first he couldn't pick up the egg as he didn't understand enough about being a friend. His other digiegg is Courage. Davis is definitely brave: he's perfectly willing to charge into dangerous action, and when enemies appear, he usually glares at them rather than look worried. He hates sitting around doing nothing, and he has a definite sense of duty toward the digital world and his friends. He'll do what it takes to help. The others don't always respect Davis as a leader but sometimes they do follow his decisions, like when he stubbornly refused to leave the Emporer's base until they had a victory. He was willing to stay there alone if needs be, but they ended up sticking with him, and he was right. His friends do care about him, despite the way they sometimes act towards him. I guess their behaviour is somewhat justified; in the beginning, Davis was pretty obnoxious. When he's right about something, he won't hesitate to blow his own horn, but some of Davis' bragging is an act. He's often saying self-depreciating things and sometimes seems pretty insecure. He occasionally has moments where he doubts if they can do something, such as when they had to attack MetalGreymon. (At other times he is impatient with others for hesitating.) I think he also compares himself to TK a bit, and TK is like "Mr Perfect". Another thing that comes to mind about Davis is he's a slob. He snores loudly, he drools in his sleep, he eats constantly, his room is messier than Tai's (a dubious distinction), he's not exactly the epitome of refinement. Davis and his partner are partners who seem to be on pretty equal terms with each other. They give each other advice about their love lives (or lack thereof), encourage each other, play soccer together and generally work as a great team. Veemon almost always agrees with Davis even if nobody else does. As DemiVeemon, he is able to consume a truly heroic amount of food. ^_^. Veemon also has a crush on Gatomon who won't give him the time of day; like human, like Digimon... Davis also has an older sister named June. June is a man-hunter, and her main interest is Matt. In other words, she won't take no for an answer, and is always looking for an opportunity to get him to ask her out. Davis doesn't have much patience with June; they have a pretty typical brother-sister relationship. ^_^. He's not the brightest bulb but he usually has pretty good instincts, and he comes up with some great lines. ^_^. He's a pretty funny character, and when he has his moments, he really has them. He's really a nice guy at heart, despite some of his bumbling and bravado. So, he's my favourite. ^_^.
